About:China Embassy in Thailand

Is it possible for Filipino citizen to apply for Chinese visa in Bangkok?if yes, how fast to get it?

Am a Filipino citizen going to Bangkok for short trip. I will be there from Monday to Thursday. Then have ticket to Xiamen, China on Friday. Is it possible for me to apply (express service) and if yes, would you know how long would it take? Just to let you know, I have been to PRC multiple times and this is just renewal. What should I prepare? Thank you very much!

The required documents for applying Tourist type (L)
1. The original passport with at least one blank page and at least 6-month validity.
2. One properly completed Application Form.
3. One recent passport photo attached on the Application Form.
4. Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc. or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China. Read the detailed requirements about the Invitation Letter. Other supporting and supplementary documents may also be needed by the consular officer when necessary.
5. Foreign citizens should provide valid Thai entry permit or residence permit or other documents to prove their legal status.

See No. 5, if am just in transit and not holding any residence permit, can I apply in Bangkok? Thanks.

Ken, it takes 2 or 3 days if you use express service. However, you need to be approved to apply via the express service.

If you just transit in Bangkok, I am afraid that your chance of getting a L type is very little. Anyway, you might contact Chinese embassy to confirm this.

Hi Ted,

Thanks. I'll be in Bangkok around 4 days. What do you mean by " I need to be approved to apply via express service?"

Appreciate the inputs. So I should apply for L type ? What does that mean or entail?

Yours,

Ken

Ken, if you want to use the express service, you have to get the consent of the consular officer. You can use this expedited service only if he or she agrees.

If you go to PRC for leisure travel, you should apply for the L type. It's issued for foreign tourists to PRC.
