About:Beijing Capital International Airport

How much money to take for 12 hour layover in Beijing Airport?

I have a flight arriving from London Heathrow into PEK with a 12 hour layover onto Auckland, New Zealand Mid February. I have a few questions.
1. What will the weather be like at the time?
2. How much would you reccommend to take with you to do some substantial shopping in the airport and also buy 2 meals and a few drinks over the day?
3. How far if the arrivals terminal/gate from the air china departures terminal/gate?
4. Where can I get some quick authentic chinese cuisine from in the airport?

1. According to previous weather statistics, the temperature varies between 27F to 41F in mid February, and it snows sometimes. So, you need to take warm winter clothes like down jacket, a sweater, long pants, and warm shoes. But inside the terminal it's warm enough and you can wear thin clothes.
2. CNY 200 is enough for you to have two meals. But for shopping spense, it really depends on you.
3. As I know, the departure hall of Air China is in T3. But I don't know which airline are you on from Heathrow, so I am not sure whether you arrive at T2 or T3 of PEK. If you arrive at T2, you may get to T3 by free ferry bus. If you arrive at T3, you just need to take the escalator to go up to the departure hall. It is very convenient for you to transfer. Don't worry.
4. You may go to the Celestial Cuisine on 5F, East of Food Court, Public Area, T3.

I will be travelling from LHR to PEK with Air China but I am not sure which terminal?
Then again Air China from PEK to AKL.
I plan on purchasing a few sentimental and typical tourist items and a few bits and pieces of make up, however I have been on the websites of the airport sites and they seem to be about 200 yn for one shirt yet you said this same amount would be enough for two meals? Is this right or have I found an expensive clothes store as I just want to know enough for a few items or see the prices online beforehand.
Also do you know any tour companies that can take me around the city for the day as I am a young single female traveller and want to be in safe hands and save money.
Also finally would you say an airport lounge(I have found an offer for max. 5 hour stay) would be worth the use towards the end of my long stopover for bathroom uses and food and drink? How long would it take to get to the terminal from the lounge?

1. You will arrive at 3F, T3-E, and departs from 2F, T3-E.
2. Personally, CNY 200 seems too much for two meals. As per my experience, many restos are available there and some offer great food and cheap. For two regular meals, CNY50-80 is enough! The cost depends on your order though.
3. I know that the TravelChinaGuide, a trustworthy travel agency, provides such service. You may contact them at tourstravelchinaguide.com.
4. The Pay Lounge is worth the end of your stopover. You may have a rest and take a shower in it. There is one to the East of International Departure Lounge of T3-E. It is a two or three minutes' walk to the departure hall. :)

brilliant thank you so much! Sorry I have so many questions but I don't know anyone who has been there myself.
Would you say 500 cyn would be enough for two meals, drinks and shopping for 12 hours would be a fair amount then? I know that's. Difficult thing to guess but I can't find any websites where I can get on and check prices and see what products and shops there are and when I do it doesn't show me all that is abaible apparently only a selection of the shops in the airport.
I will defiantly look into the lounge as it only £25 for max 5 hour stay.
What was the name of the restaurants you saw for those prices?

There are stores in the airport selling Chinese fans, panda dolls, silk... But I don't think it's a good idea to buy cosmetics there; it will be more expensive than in your own country due to high tax.

There are lots of restaurants in the airport. Grnerally, the more guests in there, the more resonable the price. So you can choose one according to the guest flow. Hope helpful~
