About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 part tickets - which country counts?

For example if I flew London - Moscow - Shanghai, in China's view have I come from the UK or Russia?

Is it ok to fly back via the same midpoint (e.g. Shanghai - Moscow - Paris), or if the midpoint must be different? is it ok to end up back at the original country (e.g. Shanghai - Amsterdam - London)?

Thanks

Hi, Dan, the last stop before enetring PRC counts as the departure country, which refers to Russia here. You can't fly back to the same midpoint, but you can end up back at the original country. If you fly to Shanghai from Moscow and then fly to Amsterdam to return to London, you can use the 72 hour free transit.
