What do I need to do to get my work permit?

Hi,
I entered China with a 15 days visa-free period and now a Chinese company wants to employ me. But as the company has never applied for work permit before, I'm tasked to handle it myself. Do I have to travel back to my country to get a Z-type to start the application process? OR I can actually do everything within PRC itself?

Vincent, yes, I’m afraid you cannot do it in PRC and you need to go back to your country to get Z type. As for the work permit, it should be applied in PRC and usually, the company will get it for you.

Hi William,

Thanks for the reply. A follow up question: Is it a must to get a Z-pass before I can apply for the work permit? Or I can proceed directly to get the permit since I'm already in country visa-free?

You need to get the work permit first. It will be used during the Z-type application process.
