Do I need a visa? If yes, what type do I need?

Hi,
I will arrive in Shanghai around 4pm on 1 January 2016 by plane for a cruise trip departing to Japan on 5pm 4 January 2016. The cruise ship will then return to Shanghai at 6am 10th January 2016 and I will travel back to Australia by plane at 8:00pm on 10th January 2016. Can you please let me what sort of entry permit do I need to apply?
