About:Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

In transit at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport

Hello.

Quick question: next year I'll be traveling through the airport and, as my layover time is 12h, I will most likely be offered a free hotel (so I hope, I still need to confirm this). My question is: if I stay for around 12 hours at/near the airport, will I need any visa? Can simply get this '72 hour, visa-free' 'permit'?

Thank you
Adam

Firstly, I am glad to tell you that no visa is needed during the transit. As your stopover time is witthin 24h, you can go to the inspection counter of China Immigration Inspection to apply for 24h stay permit. With it, you will be allowed to leave CAN for staying or visiting. So you don't need the 72h visa-free policy.
