Sudha, you can possibily extend it from PRC at the Office of Exit and Entry Administration. What you need to do it to prepare necessary documents first and then submit the extension application to the office. The documents include your passport, a photocopy of the passport, an application form, the registration form of temporary residence, and an invitation letter from the relevant Chinese entity.
