About:Beijing Great Wall

Hi, is it possible to go Mutianyu Great Wall on our own by bus from city centre?

1. How reliable are the public buses?
2. Could we do a trip to the Underground Palace or Ming tombs on our way back to city after visiting the great wall?

Ivy, of course you can take the public bus to visit the wall on your own. However, if you plan to visit Ming Tombs, I would suggest you go to Badaling instead. It's closer to the Ming Tombs. You can finish visiting these two sites in a day.

If you stick to your plan, I am afraid that you may not do it in a day. You need to change bus from Mutianyu to Ming Tombs. I takes at least 2 hours and 30 minutes. It doesn't include the time you wait for the bus.
