About:China Visa Exemption

connecting flight in shanghai to hk, would i need to have a visa in order to do the transfer?

im a HKSAR passport holder, just wondering if im flying from US to HK, but will have to do a connection flight from shanghai to hk. the lay over in shanghai is approximate 3 hours.

Do you have the home return permit for mainland China? If so, you can directly transit in Shanghai. If not, you need to apply for a special travel document from Chinese embassy/consulate in the USA and then use it to do the transit.
