Rail pass in China

Is it possible to buy a rail pass for a three week period that would allow me to travel unrestricted for that time, without having to make a specific itinerary for that period, and without having to make advance purchase of tickets. Just go to the station and get on board assuming there is a seat available.

But there is such a rail pass in China. To travel by train, you have to hold a ticket, which can be bought on the spot or booked online in advance.
