About:Mount Emei

I am planning to hike Mt. Emei and visit Buddha in Leshan on the 27th of October.

Hi,
I will take very early high speed train from chengdu. What route would you recommend and where to sleep if I have 1.5 days. I have to catch the flight on the 28th at 22:00. I have heard about dangerous monkeys on the way. Is it true? I will be traveling alone. Female traveler. Thank you

In Chengdu South Railway station, you can take a bullet train to Emeishan, and it takes about 1.5 hours. Then you can take a taxi to the scenic area. After the sightseeing, take a late bullet train to Leshan, and the duration is about 15 mins.

You are suggested to stay in Leshan, and then take a morning trip to see the Buddha. Then take a bullet train back to Chengdu. The travel time is about 1 hour.

Your time is enough, and you don’t need to worry about the monkey. They are not dangerous, but just naughty, not afraid of people. They may grasp your cameras or phones away for fun, just keep an eye on that.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. But I want see sunrise on the Emei summit. I thought I could go to Leshan first very early in the morning and then to the mountain and walk to the top. Sleep there and then walk back.

Perhaps this is too late for you, but your plan actually was doable. At Chengdu Xinanmen Bus Station, there are many buses to Xiaoba Tourist Bus Station and the first bus leaves at 07:30. After your sighteeing, take a bus still at Xiaoba to Emei Baoguosi Bus Station and the last one leaves at 17:00. Take a taxi to the scenic area at a cost of CNY20 within 15min for your further sightseeing (by walking, it takes around 3h to the entrance and your time is too tight to hike onto the summit).
