About:China Customs Declaration

Travel to China for tour first and then to HKG. Can we bring ginseng, cigars from for HK relatives?

We are going to travel from Toronto to China for a short tour and then fly back to Hong Kong. Can we bring along ginseng, cigars, chocolates for Hong Kong relatives as gifts while travelling into China? Do we have to declare them at Chinese customs? Do we require any documentation for exporting the Canadian ginseng?

Hi, it is fine to bring these things into China and of course the ginseng should not be fresh ones. Chololates are regulated to bring some for self use, or you need to pay tax. For cigars, each passenger is allowed to bring no more than 100. I remember it is no need to declare these things by the way, so no documents are needed to prepare.
