About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

is this still OK for the 72hr visa on arrival at Shanghai?

I wish to visit Shanghai for up to 72 hrs en route from London to Sydney. However I hold 3 tickets:
1) London/Hong Kong (British Airways)
20 hr stopover then
2) Hong Kong/Shanghai (Cathay Pacific)
65 hour stopover then
3) Shanghai/Sydney (Cathay Pacific single ticket but with 2hr plane change in Hong Kong)

my routing means I have to pass through Hong Kong before/after Shanghai.

Unfortunately, you are disqualified because you fly from HK and get back to Hk again after your transit in Shanghai even it's just a stopover.
