how many times can i apply for a tourist visa in china?

I am currently in PRC on a double entry permit, I am on my second entry and need to leave early December. What are my options on returning to PRC immediately (my partner lives here). Can I fly to either Hong Kong or Bangkok and apply for a new tourist entry permit at the Chinese embassy there? Thanks.

Hannah, there is no limit for the number of times that you can apply for the PRC entry permits. You can apply from another one from HK or Bangkok. If possible, you can apply for a one-year multiple-entry type, which is more convenient for you.
