Do I need a 72hr transit visa to leave Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and stay in a hotel?

I'm arriving at the airport from Manchester England for 14hrs then onwards to Brisbane.

No, you do not need a visa. Upon arrival at the airport, you need to apply for a stay permit. With the permit, you can exit the airport and live in the hotel. Don’t worry, you can get the permit easily.
