He took the Silk Road to reach China. It took four years for him to pass by Mesopotamia, Iran and Pamirs and finally arrived in Beijing in 1275.

It is rumored that since he used the Silk Road, and traveled back and forth from his many different routes, that some of those became part of the road. It isn't a long road, it is a long combination of many different passages and routes that are all connected.
