About:China Business Visa

I am thinking of organizing 1 or 2 presentations during my tourist trip to China

Hi, there,

I have just booked a 10-day tour of PRC with my wife (standard itinerary), and am thinking that it might be useful to organize a presentation in Beijing and/or Shanghai to discuss the advantages of gong green with a PRC audience. It may be more work than I want anyway, but if I go ahead with it, I want to know...
1) If I don't charge, can I just get the regular tourist L type?
2) If so, is it permissible to request voluntary donations?
3) If I get a business M type so I can get paid, how much does it cost for a US citizen?
Thank you,
Shel

Shel, in principle, if you enter with the regular tourist L type, you can only travel and are not allowed to conduct such activities, even though you don't charge. I'm afraid you may need to get an M type or Z type from the embassy, which costs 140 dollars.

Hse hse, Jennifer. Are you saying that even if I don't charge, this would not be OK?
