Obtaining a another tourist visa

I am an Australian who has used up my double entry tourist type. Will I be able to reapply for another tourist one (multiply entry this time) in Hong Kong to continue staying with family/friends? Is there a period of time I need to be away from PRC to be able to obtain this or can I be issued one straight away? Thanks

CHTAN, you can try to apply in HK. But I am afraid that you might not get a multiple entry one there. To play it safe, you'd better get back to Australia and apply.

You can try to apply from HK first. If not successful, you need to go back to Australia for that.
