japanese visa for a foreigner staying in china, holder of chinese business M type

Hello and thank you in advance!
Im staying in PRC on a business M type, can i apply for japanese entry permit in PRC? In shanghai?
If not in mainland, is it possible to do it in HongKong..?

Elena, I am afraid that you can't apply in Shanghai or even in HK. The applicants are require to provide long term resident permits if they are in mainland. M type isn't a long term one. The applicants are required to provide their HK or Macau ID card or resident permit if they apply in HK.
