Of course, you need to apply for a M type if you come to China for a business trip. Since you have one year work permit in Italy, you can apply from the CVASC branch in Rome. The invitation letter from your Chinese partner/company is required. Besides, you need to submit your original work permit, passport, filled appliation form and a recent passport photo.
