About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I'm a Brazilian citizen flying from Frankfurt to HongKong with a 9 hours layover in Chengdu

Since it's a short period of time, I don't want to claim my checked luggage. Is it mandatory to do so, or can I just leave my luggage with the airline without going through customs.
