About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong -Beijing- Hong Kong

Hi,

I'm a French citizen, going from HK to Beijing in the morning and leaving Beijing to HK the same day in the evening. Am I eligible for a 72-hours visa-free transit?

Thanks a lot,
Philippe

No sorry.
You must leave Beijing to a third country.

Is Hongkong considered third country? Does it mean I leave mainland and for reentry I need again Chinese visa?

Yes, Hong Kong is considered a third region. If you leave mainland for HK and then reenter, you need another entry permit.
