About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

arriving and departing from different airports

I am looking at a flight with China Eastern flying from Melbourne to Dubai with a 32 hour stopover in Shanghai. It arrives at Pudong but leaves from Honqiao, I'm assuming this visa is ideal for this situation?? Also if I enter and depart from the same airport I'm assuming I collect my luggage during the layover.

Narelle, yes, you can use the free transit policy. When transiting in Shanghai, it doesn's matter whether you enter and depart from a same airport or not. If you use the same airline to fly in and out, it's possible that you don't need to collect your luggage during the layover, but you should confirm this with the airline.
