How to get Certificate of Marriageability?

The process is a bit complicated. First, you need to go to the council register office and tell them that you want to get married abroad. Then they tell what you need to prepare. After you prepare the required documents and submit to them, you will receive your single certificate three weeks later. It's better to make a call in advance to ask what documents you should prepare. Then you needn't come there twice.

Second, you need to have the single certificate authenticated by Forigner and common wealthy office. You can come there in person or post your documents to them.

Third, you should visit Chinese consulate that has jurisdiction over your area to have it authenticated again.

Please be noted that Chinese Civil Affairs Bureau implements stricter rules. You have to state in the single certificate whether you are unmarried or divorced.
