About:China Transit Visa

I'm thinking to apply one to go out, what type do I apply? Is it transit visa or the tourist type?

I have a 25 hour stay in Shanghai and am holding an indian passport. I talked to Airline and they said that since the layover is more than 24hours and my country isn't white listed for the 72 hour free transit I wouldn't be able to go out.

Both transit and tourist type are fine. It's easy to apply for a transit type in advance. You just need to provide your passport, application form, a recent passport photo and your onward air ticket.
