hi, this month my work contract here in china stops after some years, but i would still like to stay for a couple of months, what is the best way for extension?can i directly get it here in shanghai office?it ends spet 30, 2015, when is the best time to apply for extension?thank you in advance.

Onik, after your contract ends, you cannot continue your work in China. It's possible to cancel your work permit and residence permit first and then apply for a one-month L type, but I'm not sure wether the officer can issue you an L type valid for a few months. Anyway, your Z type cannot be extended if you don't want to continue to work in PRC.

You should apply for it seven days before your residence permit expires.
