About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

May I travel via airport within China during the 72 hours?

I'm traveling in Italy and stopping in China before returning to America. Would the following trip be allowed?

- Monday: Rome --> Beijing (get visa) --> Dalian
- spend Tuesday in Dalian
- Wednesday: Dalian --> Beijing --> NYC

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

Thanks. What if the Beijing-Dalian flights are just connecting flights? Can I layover in Beijing and get the 72 hour transit in Dalian, then take a connecting flight back Dalian-->Beijing-->NYC? I would not leave the airport in Beijing.

NO.
Am I allowed to visit other cities during my 72-hour free stay with transit permit? Or, if I can not depart within 3 days, what should I do?

You are not allowed to visit other cities during the transit. If you have to visit other cities, or you cannot depart from the transit city within the 3 days allowed, then you should apply for a Chinese visa from local PSB.
