Huangshanbei Railway Station

I am planning to book a train reservation to Huangshan and I found out that there is a new railway station, Huangshanbei. I have 2 questions:
1) what transportation is available from Huangshanbei Railway Station to the town of Tangkou - I am planning to climb up the Eastern Steps from the bottom of the Huangshan Mountain and I believe Tangkou is the closest town? Are buses available? If not, how much does taxi cost? How long is the bus / taxi ride?

2) After spending 2 nights at the Huangshan Mountain summit, I plan to spend 1 night at Tunxi (Old Street). I will then catch a 7:30am train at the Huangshanbei Railway Station the following morning. Can I take a bus from Tunxi to the Huangshanbei Railway Station? If not, how much does taxi cost? How long is the bus / taxi ride?

By the way, how early do I need to arrive the train station for a 7:30am train?

Thanks
Stephen

1. The transportation is convenient. From the North Railway Station, you can walk to Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub and take direct coach to the South Gate of Huangshan Scenic Area (Tangkou Town). The schedules are from 08:40 to 20:30 with the frequency of around 30 mins. It takes around 50 mins on the way. After arriving, just walk to the entrance and start your climb.

2. From Yunxi Old Street to North Railway Station, you can take direct speacial Bus Line at Yimalu, Ermalu or Trade City Bus Stop. The earliest schedule is at 6:30. It takes around an hour on the way. Generally speaking, it's suggested to arrive at the train station 1.5 hours before the departure time.

Thank you for the information. From the Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub, is there direct coach to the town of Tangkou (reading Lonely Planet, there are many restaurants & supermarkets on Feicui Lu & Yanxi Jie streets in that town) instead of going to the South Gate. That way, I can eat and stock up on supplies before taking an official tourist shuttle to Yungu Station. Reading Lonely Planet, I believe I can also start the Eastern Steps climb from Yungu Station.

If I need to be at the train station 1.5 hour before departure. Then, may be I should take a taxi from Tunxi Old Street to the Huangshanbei Railway Station for the 7:30am train. Is it easy to get a taxi at Tunxi Old Street so early in the morning? How much does it cost for the taxi?
Thanks

Yes, the coach goes directly to Tangkou, which is quite near (walking distance) to the South Gate of the scenic area. You are right about that, there are restaurants, accommodations available in Tangkou. You can stock up in the town before starting climbing the mountain.

Yes, you can also start up from Yungu Valley.

In the early morning, I suggest you book a taxi in advance to the train station, you can turn to your hotel with the booking service. The taxi fare is about CNY40 – 50.
