From M visa to X type

Hi !

I have done some business in China and I've discovered what a great country it is. So I plan on starting at a bachelor program in Chinese from September 1st. The university says it wont be a problem but still I have my doubts since I have heard some rumors. I am getting the X1 type. (for more than 180/recidential)

Who should I go to and is there anything I can take into consideration?
