About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for the 72-hr Visa or Direct Transit?

We are traveling from USA to Thailand (3 cities) on a 10 day trip. On our return trip to the US, we have a 19 hr layover in Guangzhou.

Yes, you do unless your flights don't stop by any other Chinese cities.

No my flights do not stop in any other city, does this mean i don't qualify?

Also which one would we qualify for 72 hour or Direct Transit? Thanks

If the flight from Guangzhou to USA doesn´t have any other stops within China then you qualify for the 72h.
But you also qualify for the 24h transit - in this case you can have multi stops in China. You just must leave the country within 24 hours.
