China is the last place on our trip, what visit type to get?

Hello,
We will be arriving in Hong Kong on the 24th January 2016 and departing from Beijing on 10th February. Mainland is the last place we are visiting on our trip, and our trip starts on 27th October.

We're looking for a tourist type but unsure what one to get because we're under the impression that any that we get before we leave will expire by the time we reach there?

Is there a type available that would allow us to do this? Or would it be possible to get one in Bangkok as we are there at the beginning of December.
