About:China Transit Visa

Transit flight at Guangzhou and Urumqi airports (CZ)

Hello sir,
I will have flight to Moscow from Bangkok with China Southern (CZ).
But flight will stop at Guangzhou and Urumqi as following details.

Outbound : Sat 14 Nov 2015
Bangkok (BKK) - Guangzhou (CAN) / 0210 - 0600 / CZ3036
Guangzhou (CAN) - Moscow (SVO) via Urumqi / 11.35 - 19.35 / CZ6001

Inbound : Sat 21 Nov 2015
Moscow (SVO) - Guangzhou (CAN) via Urumqi / 2140 - 1355 (+1) / CZ6002
Guangzhou (CAN) - Bangkok (BKK) / 1600 - 1755 / CZ363

At Guangzhou, I will have to move between terminal 1 and terminal D to change the airplane. Do I have to pass immigration?

At Urumqi, I think it is technical stop (e.g. to re-fill the fuel).
I think I may not leave the airplane, I can sit in airplane during layover time.

Am I correct? Because I'm Thai. If I have to pass immigration, I must apply VISA in advance.
Sincerely thanks,

As long as your transit time (counted from your scheduled arrival time and departure time from the second leg) is less than 24 hours, you needn't apply one because you are qualified for 24 hours free transit. However, you should apply for the stay permit when you arrive at the first airport.
