travelling from san francisco to india.

Question

I am Indian Citizen will be travelling from SFO to Kolkata (India)  via Beijing in coming December. I am having 23 hours  lay over at Kunming  which I want to spend at any hotel nearby airport. Do I need to apply for separate transit G type for that ?Please let me know.Thanks

You say you need to transit in Beijing and Kunming? If the layover time in the two cities adds up to more than 24 hours, you need to get a transit permit. If not, you can make use of the 24h free transit policy. In this case, you can apply for a temporary stay permit at the aiport to sleep in a hotel.
