About:China Family Reunion Visa

I'm from the PH. What type of visa should I apply if I want to stay for 6mos?

I'm from the Philippines. I'm planning to visit my relatives in China this year. I would like to stay there for 6months to try the lifestyle in China because I'm thinking of applying for citizenship as well. What type should I get?

Yugu, if your relatives are Chinese, you should apply for the Q type. If they are foreigners living in PRC, you should apply for the S type.

Thanks for the swift response. how long is the validity of the S type? Also, I asked a few travel agencies and they told me that China no longer allows Filipinos to apply for working visa. Is this true?

Yugu, the S2 is valid for six months at most while the S1 type is valid for 30 days. However, with the S1, you can get a residence permit which allows you to stay for one year. Nowadays, Filipino domestical helpers cannot get the work permit, but not all Filipinos.
