US Military Leave at PEK

IF I'm only going to be in the Beijing Capital International Airport as a layover, and I'm going to have my Leave papers and my Military ID with me. Can I still get through customs as long as I have those items or will I also need a passport.

Oh, you need to have a passport. And in addition, you also need to show your flight tickets and visa of the next destination.
