About:China Tourist Visa

I'm Australian on holiday in Indonesia, wants to apply Chinese Tourist visa from Jakarta-Indonesia.

Why the travel agent asked if I have Kitas in order to apply? I'm only visiting as a tourist. Please explain what documents I actually need to apply from Jakarta-Indonesia.
Thank you for your kind reply.

Hi, Wendy! As far as I know, you just need to prepare your passport, a copy of the passport's photo page, a filled application form affixed with your personal half-length photo taken within six months, the original and photocopy of your entry permit for Indonesia, and round-trip tickets and hotel bookings for the upcoming trip. Actually, the Kitas is not a must if you don't have one.
