When and how should I apply for a tourist visa and which one do I need.

I am going to see my fiance in Tianjin China in the beginning of November.

Brian, I advise you to submit the application in September or October. You will need the following documents: a passport valid for at least six months and having more than two blank pages, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a filled-out application form attached with a recently-taken color bare-headed photo, and an invitation letter from your fiance.
