What you heard is not true. First, in the airport, there are a lot of signs both in English and Chinese indicating the direction, and the work staff can have simple conversation in English. You do not need to walk for so long to find the next terminal, for there is only one terminal in the airport, your transfer will be finished in different floors. Between floors, there are lifts or escalators available, you do not need walk a lot. For the transfer, you need at least two hours.

One hour is really tight, i'm worried about your situation. I suggest you consign your luggage and upon arrival, you cna ask the airport staff to arrange you the Green Channel, which enables you board the flight in a fast way.
