Invitation Letter for Tourist L type (British going to China) scanned photocopy/original?

I am going to be applying for my tourist visa for China but the invitation letter is a scanned photocopy. Do you think this will be sufficient along with my friend's citizen ID? There is not a great deal of time left before I leave (just over a month) so I fear sending the original document by post to the UK will arrive too late.

Hi, Tom, the scanned copy is acceptable. Only if the consular officer requires you to submit the original copy, it is needed.
