About:Visa Policy of China

Entering and leaving to different countries (Not the US). Do you think this will be a problem?

My father and I are going to China, but flying in from Tokyo to Kunming (through Shanghai) and flying out to Dubai from Beijing. Our flight to Tokyo an dfrom Dubai, of course, takes us back home to the US, but our actual points of entry and exit don't come from the US. We are also planning to go to multiple cities in China (Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Guilin/Yangshuo, Dandong, and Beijing). Do we need to provide the plane tickets/train tickets to and from those cities? We are actually driving from Kunming - Dali - Lijiang and wouldn't have any paperwork from that until we arrive and get the car. Thank you very much for your help!!!

Kathryn, you need to apply for a L type. Round-trip air tickets and hotel reservations are required. Usually, the embassy requires that you might provide 2/3 reservation information of your whole trip. This isn't a big issue. You can book hotels and then cancel your booking after you get your L type.

Thanks, Jenny! Does it matter that my round-trip airfare isn't going to be directly back and forth to the US? We are flying separate legs (all one-ways). We stay in Tokyo for 3 days before entering China and Dubai for 2 after the trip before finally going home. Thanks for your help!

Kathryn, it doesnt matter if your flight doesn't go back to USA directly. You just need to prove that you will leave China after your stay.
