I am travelling on a New Zealand passport. do I need a visa?

I am travelling to China for a holiday for 1 week to meet friends after being in Hong Kong for 10 days. I am travelling on a New Zealand passport.

Yes, you need to apply for a Chinese tourist type from Chinese consulate in advance. It requires your passport, filled application form, a recent passport photo, round-trip air tickets and hotel reservation.
