high speed train xian - beijing on 30 sep 2015plane?

During this year National Day period, I am planning to take the 1st class on the high speed train from Xian to Beijing on 30 Sep 2015. Bad Idea? Would a plane be better option? I can't change my date.Thank you in advance.AOM

During that holiday time, it would be very hard to get rail ticket. You can check the flight, if the time and price is good, you can book it. Or you can wait until 60 days before your departure date since the ticket begin for sale 60 days in advance usually. If you fail to get one, there are still time to change to a flight instead.
