Sorry to reply to my own post. My question was on checked-in luggage and not Carry on. Checked-in luggage regulations for international flights are generally two pieces each weighing no more than 23kg or 50 pounds. However, domestic flights within China generally regulates 1 piece of luggage at 20kg. I did some research and it very much depends on the airline. We are flying internally with Sichuan airlines, and their regulation is that if the tickets are purchased separately - it cannot be considered as part of one trip - and therefore the domestic rules apply (1 luggage) however recognizing you are coming from an international flight, they up the weight rules to 23kg/50 pounds. If purchased TOGETHER - as part of one trip - you can take however much you managed to get on with the international portion of your trip. They will allow you to take all of it on the domestic journey. Which is unfortunate for my circumstances. Lesson learned.
