Z vs. Residence permit

Hi!
I'll go and live in China for the coming two years. I have a Z type, and I'll apply for the Residence Permit after my arrival.

As I've understood it, my wife should get a S1 (with me as the inviter) - is that correct? Also, do I need to have gotten my Residence Permit in order to do so, or is it OK to only use the Z type?

Yes, you wife should get an S1 type with you as the inviter. When she applies for the S1, a photocopy of your residence permit and passport will be used. Therefore, you need to get the residence permit and send a copy to her.
