About:China Tourist Visa

I am a U.S. citizen living in Seoul, Korea. I would like to apply for a 10 year multiple entry Visa

I am a U.S. Citizen currently living in Seoul, Korea. I would like to apply for a 10 year multiple entry one to China. I was told today that I could not apply without an itinerary. I want to plan at the last minute based on air pollution in Bejing. How can I have an itinerary? Any suggestions? Also, my husband goes to China on business often and I would like to accompany him - the trips are sometimes planned less than a week ahead. How can obtain an entry permit? I have had a single entry one to China before, However it is now expired. Any suggestions?

Renee, from what you posted here, I guess you are applying for the tourist type, right? If yes and you want your trip more flexible, the best solution would be getting an invitation letter from an individual or entity in China. As your husband travels a lot to there, I think you have a way to get this invitation letter. With the letter, you don't need to give the itinerary.

Thanks for the reply. David works for a major oil company I do not. They won't issue the letter for a spouse because I have nothing to do with their business.
I want to return many times as a tourist, but without a multiple entry type I won't go. Baffling that I need an itinerary for a 10yr entry permit. Chinese aren't making tourism easy for sure.

Renee, rules are rules. You actually can make up an itinerary (where to visit and how long you spend at each place and where to stay). After you get your L type, you can cancel your hotel bookings without a problem.
