Do all hotels need to be booked?

I am planning a two week trip to China and will be staying at multiple hotels. Do I need to show the authorities that I have booked a hotel for each night I am in China on my visa application? Will it be acceptable to show hotel bookings for the 2-3 nights at the start and end of my trip? I'd like to leave some flexibility in my accommodations in the middle of the trip.

Daniel, you don't need to get all hotels booked. You just need to book the hotels which can cover about 2/3 of your whole trip.
