Debra, Shanghai is a popular tourist destination. There will be many tourists during National Day Holidays. If you can't cancel your trip, then just make yourself enjoy it. You might go to these popular tourist sites as early as possible. When other tourists come in, you already finish your visits. It is tiring but you won't be annoyed by other tourists.
