Do I need to stay in Macau for one night?

I am from Germany. I will finish my contract on 30th of June, which is also the day my visa runs out. My return flight to Germany is 10th of July. I was thinking of going to Macau and go back immediately to Hongkong on the same day to get a tourist visa. But a friend told me I need to stay there for one night. Is that true?

Vitus, do you mean you want to stay for another ten days in mainland China after your residence permit expires? If so, you don't need to go to Hong Kong to get the tourist type. You can apply for it when in mainland before your residence permit expires.
