Z and S1 Visas fly together to China?

Hello, I am Pablo from the Philippines, I recently signed a contract to teach, and I was asked by my employer if I would be bringing my family (wife, son-4yrs old& daughter-3yrs old), and I said yes. I understand that my accompanying family should apply for a S1 type to fly and live with me. Can we apply together both for the Z and S1 type in our local embassy so we can fly together?

Follow-up question, will my invitation letter from my employer should contain the names of my family members as part of the invitation? How does this work? I need to travel with my family there.

Pablo, I am afraid that they may not be able to apply for the S1 types together wih you. S1 types requires your invitation letter, copies of your passport information page and valid resident permit. Because you don't go to PRC to change your Z into a resident permit, I am afraid that they can't apply for S1 with you. Anyway, you might consult with Chinese embassy to confirm this.

You actually can send the invitation letter on your own with your signature and your company's stamp.

Thank you Patrick, what are other options so that I can bring them along? Should they apply for a tourist type together with me? Please shed more light on this matter?

Pablo, I think you should go there first and get all required documents. Then your families can apply for S1 types and reunite with you. If they apply for L types, they still need get back to your country to apply for S1. It's almost impossible to change L types into S1 types without leaving.
