Except your passport photos and invitation from your partner, you need a filled application form, oassport and passport copy. The proof of legal status refers to the legal stay permit or residence permit in Malaysia. It's required for submission too. You daughter's appplication documents are basically the same with you, but her birth certificate may be needed for the application.

Thank you for reply, do I need to provide her birth certificate in Chinese? or English?

Natalia, both the Chinese and English versions are acceptable. You don't need to translate it.

Hello Natalie. I would also like to apply for a business type in KL. I'm currently in China and mine will expire soon. What does the "legal stay permit" entail? I'm a South African citizen so I can visit Malaysia without entry permit. Does this still apply to me?

Hey Hanneskok. If you don't have the Malaysian entry permit, you can just hand in your passport. Then entry stamp on the passport can be used as the legal stay status proof.

Thank you very much Bernie. It's not every day someone answers questions so quickly on a forum such as this and I have to say that it is absolutely wonderful! Especially since the rules are not always very clear and I never know who to contact about visa related things.

I have one more question. I spoke to someone who got a business type from KL and she said that in addition to the documents listed above she also had to submit a "dispatch letter from a company that sends you to China". I'm not planning on applying for a long term business type, probably only for 90 days. Would I have to procure such a letter?
